SIMPLE STEPS TO
STUNNING COLOR

HOW TO USE

Follow these simple step by step instructions to get a designer color in just 10 minutes!

PREPARE TO COLOR
- Remember to do a skin allergy test 48 hours before each application, even if you have already used coloring products.
- Before you color, be sure you have a smock or old towel to protect your clothing, and a clock for timing.
- Read the in-box instructions to make sure you are familiar with Perfect 10 application. Then you’re ready to begin.
1. MIX
- Before you begin, remember to put on the Expert Colorist Gloves.
- Squeeze the tube (1) of High Gloss Color Crème into the bottle (2) of Color Activating Crème. Replace the mixing cap to the bottle and shake well, for at least 20 seconds.
- Remove the mixing cap immediately and replace it with the PerfectColor Comb or applicator tip. Not sure which to use? If you’re coloring for the first time, or haven’t colored for more than three months, use the PerfectColor Comb. If you color every 4-6 weeks and your root line is ½ inch or less, use the applicator tip.
2. APPLY
All Over Color
- For all-over color, apply Perfect 10 with the PerfectColor Comb, starting at your roots and where you have the most gray. Turn the bottle upside down and gently squeeze as you glide the PerfectColor Comb downward through your hair. Part and lift hair into sections as you apply color.
- Make sure your hair is completely saturated and work through if necessary, but don’t rub the color into your scalp. Leave color on for just 10 minutes.
Root Application
- For root application, part your hair into sections with the applicator tip. Apply color to your roots and leave on for 5 minutes.
- Replace the applicator tip with the PerfectColor Comb to apply the remaining color to the rest of your hair. Turn the bottle upside down and gently squeeze as you glide the PerfectColor Comb downward through hair.
- Part hair into sections and apply color to completely saturate hair. Work through if necessary, but do not rub into the scalp. Leave color on for an additional 5 minutes.
If any color gets on your skin or a household surface, wipe it off immediately with a damp towel.
3. RINSE AND CONDITION
- Thoroughly rinse hair until the water runs clear.
- Then gently massage a quarter-size dollop of ColorSeal Conditioning Gloss through your hair. Leave on for two minutes, then rinse.
- Save the remaining conditioner to use once a week for up to six weeks of optimal high-gloss color, shine and softness.
- Dry and style in your preferred style and enjoy your rich, high gloss color!

HOW DOES PERFECT 10 DELIVER HIGH-GLOSS COLOR IN JUST 10 MINUTES?

Perfect 10 was the first product to use Clairol’s advance color creme formula, which works so efficiently that it does the job in just 10 minutes. The advanced color creme with micropearls allows for fast penetration into the hair fibers.

Once inside the hair, the combination of effective ingredients targets the natural melanin pigment and deposits the new color. The complete coloring process is accelerated and we can achieve high-gloss color and 100% gray coverage in 10 minutes.

WHAT IS A MICROPEARL?

Micropearls are the color molecules that exist within Perfect 10’s advanced color creme formula. Each shade of Perfect 10 contains a mix of different colored molecules and conditioning ingredients to create the desired shade. Perfect 10’s advanced color creme with micropearls is what provides consumers with high-gloss color in just 10 minutes.

HOW DOES THE FORMULA WORK?

Perfect 10 uses a combination of new elements that makes it so exciting. It uses a lightening system—which is the heart of any colorant—to prepare the hair and speed up the color reaction, energizing color to move inside the hair, creating beautiful, high-gloss color in just 10 minutes. This is just a reason why Perfect 10 was one of the biggest color breakthroughs in over 50 years.

ARE ALL 10-MINUTE HAIR COLORS THE SAME?

Absolutely not! Interestingly, when we developed Perfect 10, our first objective was to create a “better” hair colorant—and along the way we realized the new technology was so good that it could do the job in just 10 minutes. Some other 10-minute products use existing, technology—just changed a bit to give faster results. This is very different from the approach we took with Perfect 10.

WHY IS PERFECT 10 LESS DAMAGING?

Perfect 10 is less damaging* to the hair surface because of its unique advanced color creme formula. Its active ingredients work best at a lower, gentler pH than most colorants, so Perfect 10 better preserves hair’s natural protective coating called the f-layer. In addition, we have shown that the advanced color creme reacts more selectively with the pigments inside the hair than with the hair itself, causing less surface damage*. On top of that, the ingredient glycine, which is an essential amino acid and one of the fundamental building blocks of hair, works as an antioxidant, reducing the effect of free radicals formed during coloring. And last but not least, Perfect 10’s weekly ColorSeal treatment helps protect hair, keeping it smooth and soft.

WHY DOES THE PERFECTCOLOR COMB WORK SO WELL IN DEPOSITING COLOR?

The development of the PerfectColor Comb was based on feedback from our consumers who struggled with the traditional color applicators. It is designed to envelop each strand of hair in the rich color creme from root to tip for even color results and flawless gray coverage. The comb has 14 outlets to provide optimum color distribution—five at the tip of each nozzle, five halfway down each nozzle and four at the bottom between the nozzles. This ensures even coverage regardless of the length or thickness of the user’s hair.

WHAT MAKES THE SCENT OF PERFECT 10 PLEASANT?

Perfect 10 owes its great scent to our formulators and fragrance artists. The formulators invented a highly efficient color technology, which works at a lower pH and therefore contains less free ammonia than some other products. Ammonia is the ingredient responsible for the harsh smell of many colorants. In addition, our fragrance artists created a scent that not only masks the remaining colorant odor but is also based on the same principles as a fine fragrance product and has beautiful top, body and base notes.

HOW DOES PERFECT 10 DELIVER COLOR RESULTS THAT REALLY MATCH THE BOX?

A lot of work has gone into making sure that each shade of Perfect 10 matches the color results shown on the box. First, the shades were tested repeatedly in our salons on consumers to confirm just the right color results. Then, hundreds of natural hair samples of appropriate starting colors were treated with Perfect 10 in our color development labs and analyzed. The technical color readings were then translated into on-pack images. Latest imaging and software programs have turned this work into a truly high-tech process because we know how important it is for our consumers to get exactly the hair color they expect.

WHAT MAKES PERFECT 10 SO SHINY AND GLOSSY?

Perfect 10 gives shiny, glossy hair in several ways. First, it deposits high-intensity color deep inside the hair fiber, leading to more intense light interactions—visible as shine. Second, it works at a lower, gentler pH with an antioxidant, reducing the effect of free radicals formed during coloring and better protecting the hair surface. A smooth, intact surface is shinier than a rough, broken one. Third, Perfect 10 uses a dual conditioning system with the color creme and the weekly ColorSeal treatment, allowing the hair fibers to be more aligned and reflect light better.
