Our Clairol scientists have been developing a new dye molecule that greatly reduces the risk of developing an allergy to hair dye. This new molecule is called ME+, it is based on traditional dye molecule (PTD, PPD) but has been modified to not cause allergy. Those who do not already have a dye allergy to PTD or PPD, have a 60x less chance of developing an allergy to ME+. However, if one already has an allergy to PTD or PPD, they should not use this product unless approved by a dermatologist. In addition, EVERYONE should do the patch skin test 48 hours before they color every time as hair color dye allergy can develop at any time.

The INCI name 2-Methoxymethyl-p-Phenylenediamine was chosen by the “Cosmetic, Toiletry & Perfumery Association (CTPA)” as the official registered name for the molecule. The authorities chose to keep the “Phenylenediamine” part in it, as an alert to allergic consumers, so they are aware that they should not color their hair if they allergic to “Phenylenediamine”. This is because due to the cross-reactions they still might be allergic to the new molecule. However, for those ingredient conscious consumers (that are not allergic to hair color), we should make very clear that even though the new molecule belongs to the same “molecule family”, it is a totally new molecule that reduces the risk of developing allergy.

Natural Instincts is a Demi Permanent color. That means the color doesn’t permanently alter your natural virgin hair, it only deposits beautiful tones. Because it has no ammonia and a low volume peroxide, it cannot lighten hair. It gradually fades away every time you wash your hair and lasts about 28 shampoos. With demi permanent hair color you won’t get a harsh root line as your hair grows out, and it can be used to blend beginning gray and enhance one’s natural color.

The processing time has gone from 10 minutes for the liquid formula to 20 minutes today because the new allergy gentle dye molecule’s kinetics are different and take a little longer to develop. Rest assured the scientists made sure the color result is the same!

There are four products in the Root Touch-Up line:

• Our original Root Touch-Up product is a Permanent crème. It is designed for higher amounts of gray for 100% gray coverage. It lasts 3 weeks or until your roots grow out. It comes in a range of 30 shades to match 100% of competitor leading shades and salon color.
• Our Color Blending Gel product is a semi-permanent product, which is not for stubborn gray coverage but blends grays and gradually washes out. It lasts about 6+ washes. It blends with Natural hair color, salon, and colored hair and can even be used in between highlighting occasions.

Our other 2 products are temporary products, which are designed for touching up roots on the go. They are water resistant, last until your next shampoo:

• Color Refreshing Spray is best for a quick application for Instant natural looking gray coverage. It gives complete coverage.
• Concealing Powder is a neat little compact and works best for precise coverage of roots and eyebrows. It feels lightweight for a natural look and also works well on curly hair or hair without an obvious root line.

Blonde It Up is our most advanced blonding system that lightens your hair up to 5 levels with ZERO BLEACH, and tones down brass with the Shimmer Lights Conditioner that’s included in the kit. No bleach means your newly lightened hair is left with a conditioned, soft and glossy finish!

AminoLift is the bleach free technology that helps you achieve maximal lightness while helping to protect your hair from damage.

Due to the absence of bleach, Blond It Up is significantly less damaging and thus can be used on chemically treated hair. For best results, do not perm, relax, or straighten the hair immediately before or after bleaching/highlighting. Wait 7-10 days and shampoo 1-2 times in between.
